Arriving by Train

 

Corniglia is reachable by train. Train station is on le line La Spezia - Genova. The nearest main station is La Spezia linked with train almost every hour. The train is the best way to reach and discover 5 Terre National Park during high season. 

5 Terre National Park Train travel time::

  • La Spezia – Riomaggiore: 7 minutes
  • Riomaggiore – Manarola: 10 minutes
  • Manarola – Corniglia: 3 minutes
  • Corniglia – Vernazza: 3 minutes
  • Vernazza – Monterosso: 4 minutes

In the station there's 5 Terre National Park InfoPoint where there's available books, maps and general information material about the park, trekking route or sea marine reserve. The InfoPoint is in charge with train ticket and temporary subscription for train and activities around.

Corniglia is on a promontory that stands 100 meters high on sea level. Train station is at sea level and is 1 km far from the entrance of pedestrian area. The whole village of Corniglia is a pedestrian area.

From March - September is available a shuttle service with a mini-bus. It runs along the road through the vineyard for a 5 minutes ride. The unique bus stop is at the entrance of pedestrian area. Bus stop is just outside station exit.  

Shuttle service has single ride (or carnet of 10 ride) ticket that can be bought in 5 Terre National Park Info Point. Tickets can be bought also onboard with an addditional charge applied.

There's not  a time table. The mini bus usually runs constantly, coordinated with trains arrivals and departure, from 8 am to 7 pm. Usually in July and August time service is extended to 10 pm. Also in crowdy periods the bus is available every 15/20 minutes.

The mini bus runs along the road that can be also walked It's an uphill walk of 15 minutes in the mediterranean nature.

At the entrance of pedestrina area following Via Fieschi with direction of Panoramic Terrace. Walking the main street of Corniglia over the main square and then to destination nearby the Panoramic Terrace.

Un’alternativa alla navetta é la scalinata “Lardarina”. La si raggiunge appena usciti dalla stazione sulla sinistra. Si tratta di una caratteristica scalinata di 400 gradini che risale a zig zag il promontorio e porta in prossimitá dell’entrata pedonale. 

Prima che fosse costruita la strada carrabile negli anni ”70 la scalinata rappresentava l’unica via per andare dal paese alla stazione. Fa ben comprendere quali fossero fino a qualche decennio fa le sfide quotidiane cui l’addomesticare un territorio cosi impervio obbliga.

La scalinata é molto apprezzata perché grazie all’andamento a zig zag offre una risalita dolce con gradini lunghi, un corrimano di sostegno e qualche panchina di sosta, molto gradita nei mesi piú caldi.
